An event's success can be measured in a number of ways. Usually, MyDiningRoom measures its event's success by the number of happy people, tapping feet and dancing children. This show was no different - and no less successful. However, this show was special. We had another measure of success - 25 pints of blood donated by community members and music fans before the music even started. A big thanks from us to all who participated - or gave it the old college try.
Once the bloodletting was over, and our arms began healing (in the case of one valiant individual, both arms, as it took more than one try to get the juices flowing), we were treated to a surprise opening act - Cliff Hillis. Yes, he is a part of IKE, but he volunteered to do a set of his own music to kick things off. We couldn't have asked for a better start to the show.
IKE then took the "stage" for two sets of amazing music. Having performed at numerous house concerts over the years, John and the troops were well equipped to dial in a perfect sound for the room.
Results of the day - new friends, new fans, good deeds, and my ten year old counting the days until she turns 17 and can give blood herself. By all measurements, a success!
