The Anderson Council -- Off Site

You'd think that with a band as cool as the Anderson Council, a day as beautiful as Sept. 21 and friends as nice as they are, everything would be great. You'd think that, but man how wrong you'd be...

It's a strange show when after complimenting the band, most everyone's major comment is "Well, the police were nice about it, at least..." Yep, the cops were called DURING THE SOUND CHECK! They came often (I think they secretly liked the music) and gave us all the warnings they were obliged to under the law. But with a sound as infectious as the Anderson Council, and a guest drummer as brilliant as Kurt from the Grip Weeds, I'll be darned if I'm calling everything off.

The band was amazingly cool about the whole thing, and played some really incredible stuff under the pressure of making it relatively quiet so as not to invoke the rock or water cannon trained on them. They helped us mock the neighbors (who also secretly enjoyed the music) and have volunteered to play the back yard for the benefit to raise funds for our legal defense...

The band watched the children run and hula and fall on their faces (video of a Josie face plant stopping the show in RM format here) and delighted the children with a rendition of the Hokey-Pokey (here). Bottom line? The fan base had a blast with family and friends loving the music, swings, snacks and perfect power-pop; the band got a good dinner out of it and a meet and greet with Teaneck's finest, and the mydiningroom crew got 6 citations for noise ordinance infractions. It was win-win all around. Support local music and your right to enjoy it in your yard!

And, by the way, if anyone is selling a used copy of Coloursound, let the webmaster know...I lost mine and REALLY want it again.
