I've often told people how nice the performers are that join us in MyDiningRoom. Anything that I've said previously is an understatement when it comes to The Churchills.
The music was amazing, but the highlights included two guest performances.
The band, realizing the family atmosphere that they would be encountering, came prepared for some audience participation. Natasha, my nine year old,
performed on keyboard publicly for the first time (OK, so it was limited to a repeating riff that the band showed her before the song), and my niece
Maddie played tambourine with the band for one of their numbers.
Additionally, the band played with the children, hung out with us for a
while after the show, and then stayed around to help clean up (look up the word "mensches" in the dictionary, and I'm convinced that you'll see a picture of the band). All of this despite having to get ready to leave for Germany the next day.
The family atmosphere was contagious, as the normal crush for dinner was
replaced by a more relaxed buffet, and most of the paper goods were thrown out by the audience rather than left for us to pick-up.
Finally, Ron (guitar/vocals) spent several minutes making Josie giggle
before leaving.
The Churchills weren't family before they came, but they are now.
