The Dipsomaniacs

After getting a reference from The Marlowes, and checking out their music, it was obvious that The Dipsomaniacs would be perfect for MyDiningRoom, but, alas, with a new baby coming and no more summer dates available, what’s a family to do? Take the show on the road!

My sister-in-law wanted to throw a concert for my brother’s birthday, so I referred her to Mick from The Dipsomaniacs. A bit of negotiation, a few weeks, and a riser rental later, the band was in her backyard. Powered by the MyDiningRoom mics and PA (and a bit of brew), the show went on for the assembled crowd (over a hundred people by my estimate). Most of the crowd was seeing house concert for the first time (few of our regulars made the trip to north Jersey for the gig – even Heidi stayed home with our new addition), and were very impressed.

The police only showed up twice – they have to if someone complains. It turns out that somebody several blocks away called them – probably miffed at not being invited. The comments from the officer who arrived first, and his sergeant who followed, included the fact that the music didn’t seem to be that loud, and compliments to the band on their sound – now that’s a ringing endorsement – even the cops liked the music. To appease the unknown stick-in-the-mud, the band turned down the volume from 11 for the rest of the second set.

The finale to the music was followed by a line-up of kids playing on the drums and saying hello into the microphones (what is it about kids and mics?)
