House Drinks:

Note -- that doesn't mean that these are what the house drinks. Think of 'drinks' as a noun, not as a transitive verb.

Sometimes the muse descends. Down to the gutter to come to a MyDiningRoom show, that is. And when she does, she inspires someone to mix something so ridiculous that it has to be good.

The first 3 (we assume that more will be created) house drinks were invented by the inimitable bar master Paul Murr, who also serves as the drummer of Parallax Project (with some assistance from the MyDiningRoom webmaster and designated drinker, Daniel). Mr. Murr managed to create the Cream-sick-le before the first set, and rose to the challenge set down by an appreciative audience by adding the Cherry Twister and Chocolate Cherry during the break between sets. All drinks were created using the limited supplies on hand (we’re a beer snob house – we only keep the hard stuff for cooking – wink, wink, nudge, nudge, know what I mean?). Despite the wretched sounding recipes, the drinks are surprisingly good.

 1. Cherry Twister

Combine Black Cherry Soda and Rum (1:1 ratio) over ice. Add 2 squirts of vanilla syrup. Mix. (named in honor of Mr. Murr’s other band)

2. Chocolate Cherry

1:1 mixture of Black Cherry Soda and Guinness Stout. (yup, Paul actually did this to Guinness – quite good, though – definite chocolate notes over a malty cherry base)

 3. Cream-sick-le

Combine Orange Soda and Vodka (1:1 ratio) over ice. Add 2 squirts of vanilla syrup. Mix. (tastes just like the ice cream novelty you’re thinking of – but with bubbles and a kick)

4. Messy Vodka

This is compliments of Yidcore. They apparently made it up in the proper way -- mixing whatever they had on hand, late at night.

1:1 mixture of vodka and champagne (yes, I said champagne, but sparkling wine not from the Champagne region of France is also acceptable; keep it moderately dry)

Mix about 1/2 ounce of each in a double shot glass while covering the glass with a credit card (or your hand -- that would be the "messy" of the name). Slam the shot down on the counter and drink as it bubbles.

Score more inventiveness for the rhythm section as Dave and Lee, bass and drums for The Villas, use the apostrophe with abandon - please be cautious when mixing:

5. Moscato D'Sturbed

1:1 combo of Moscato D'Asti and Sprite - especially good for re-bubblizing (re-bubblizing? sounds like Ira had one too many, or 4 too few...Dan) flat wine.

6. Goose L'Orange

This is similar to a screwdriver and a cream-sick-le (above) and was originally intended for use with the Grey Goose Orange vodka.

1:2 mixture of Grey Goose Vodka and orange soda - forget that orange "overtone" garbage - this way, artificial orange flavor will smack you squarely in the tongue.
