The Grip Weeds

Note -- Ira is letting me write this, so be gentle in your criticisms.

This show marked a first -- for the first time, the MyDiningRoom North fairgrounds had a full sized band indoors. I built a riser and so it rained... For our 3rd annual concert (a benefit for the fund in honor of Julie's mom), the Grip Weeds came and blew everyone away. Sure it was rainy outside, and sure, we had to lock all the kids in the basement, but hey, the music was good and I had low carb beer.

Two long sets of music, including some wonderful covers (the closing number was a rousing "Train Kept A Rolling" -- the Tiny Bradshaw song popularized by Aerosmith; the song is now available here in real media format (space limitations)) and a slew of Grip Weeds music, from old favorites to first-time-performed--in-public songs which impressed everyone! The band was, as usual, warm and friendly and lots of fun to have around.

After the show was the Atkins fest (though I forgot to serve the cheesecake), and a wonderful time was had by all. Another first-ever -- I video taped the show and have transferred it onto my computer. For a nominal fee, i can send out video tapes of the show or CD versions (the CD has a Real Media file and a divx (AVI) file. The former works fine but the latter is hit or miss. On my computer it works but on others, not so much. Contact me if you're interested.
