Given their outspoken position as advocates for the artist in the current corporate musical environment, and subsequent notoriety, it was a thrill to host The Rosenbergs.
Before they even arrived, three of us (Heidi, me and our oldest child) had seen them play at the IPO in NYC (turns out that The Knitting Factory is an all ages club). Despite the fact that they went on last of seven bands, and finished with a loud set after 1 AM, the first words out of Heidi’s mouth (and agreed to immediately by our daughter) when we got to the car were “The Rosenbergs were fantastic.” We were psyched for the upcoming show in MyDiningRoom. Our oldest repeatedly listened to their CDs and had their lyrics memorized by the time that they arrived.
The show started a bit late due to the fact that Dave, their lead singer, was having too much fun playing with the children (I’m trying to help him get a camp counselor’s job for the summer ;-) ). Despite that (or maybe because of it), the show was amazing. The Rosenbergs’ sound fairly defines the notion of power-pop with amazing hooks and 4 part harmonies.
