Wow!!! This strayed from our standard path in unimaginable ways - all good! The gentlemen from Australia arrived somewhat concerned about playing a gig in a house. After seeing the set-up and playing with the children, the hesitation disappeared. Volumes were turned to 11 (the only appropriate level for punk-rock), and off we went. In addition to outrageous versions of our favorite Jewish songs, the band regaled us with stories about run-ins with the law, law school and Adam Sandler (who, for a funny guy, apparently has no sense of humor regarding others covering his song).
The second set featured a shofar solo (a stand-in shofar was delivered by an
audience member to replace the one forgotten by the band), the distribution
of plastic farm animals (I think that there's still a horse in the sofa), a
hoummous incident (partially my fault - I'd rather not discuss it), and Myki
(guitar) adding a wig (a gift from my wife) to his ensemble (he dresses in
drag for shows).
The fact that we all knew the words to the songs (but had trouble keeping up
with the rapid-fire delivery), led to a substantial number of us singing
along - including the kids, who were more captivated by the show than usual
(Bram's hair colors and piercings may have also gotten their attention).
A grand time was had by all, and in addition to the music and food, a new
drink was added to our house drinks list.
The band has now put some pictures up from their US tour. Here is one which Ira has entitled:SEE PUNK EAT BABY! and here is the link to the page with 4 or 5 other MyDiningRoom shots.
